He boarded the Leviathan on May 15. He mentions in his diary and letters several other divisions being funneled through Brest. As my grandfather stayed around for cleanup etc. after the second world war, I know that others served in the military for the same purposes. The 1919 date struck me because I realized that this unidentified gentleman must have made it through the fighting. It was nice to come to the realization that he survived. I often feel a kind of kinship with the people in the papers and photographs I handle.archivesinfohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11173735671172866919noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3589678736004297790.post-69433558295177781792011-04-01T19:09:42.114-04:002011-04-01T19:09:42.114-04:00Hi.. my father was a WWI veteran and he was discha...Hi.. my father was a WWI veteran and he was discharged in 1919. He was part of the Yankee Division from New England. So 1919 would not have been an unusual date for the photo you found in the antique shop.

LucieLucie LeBlanc Consentinohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13480035657625949265noreply@blogger.com
